The Association of Rural and Small Libraries is comprised of libraries
of all types including public, school, small urban branches, special
and corporate, and small academic. The defining characteristics are a
library with a limited budget and a diverse clientele. Librarians,
support staff, governmental officials, trustees, friends of libraries,
and professionals from other fields comprise this movement. This
endeavor is supported by the Center for the Study of Rural Librarianship, Clarion University of Pennsylvania in cooperation with
the H. W. Wilson Foundation, Bronx, New York.
